It's been a very busy first two days of my new job, and I'm so loving it. It feels like somehow all the things I have done in my life are to be applied to this new job. It's been exciting getting to learn again, and especially with something I love. Anyway, I wish I had more rest last weekend. It's been pretty hard having 8 hour days plus a little reading to cover in the evenings.

I finally figured out Mulholland Dr. on Saturday night. We had Gael, Michelle, Karen, Hina and Lisa over that evening, and we chilled over pizza and DVD. Ooh! I also gave away a whole basket of avocados to them. Michelle took the bulk of it, and even wanted to pick more from the tree. It was nice to have the house warm that night. I'd told the girls to bring along blankets and cushions as I was quite afraid it would be freezing cold, but I had the heaters going an hour before everyone arrived, so it was pretty cosy by then.

If you haven't watched Mulholland Dr., go rent it.

I started Sunday morning at 0530. It's become a usual thing for me now. How strange, but my body clock seems to be adjusting. It was a pretty smooth drive to Freo to meet Simon, where we headed off to Kings Park for our first shoot. Thankfully we postponed Friday's shoot. We got the most amazing shots that morning. The sun was just peeking over the city skyscape, and yet there was a fog that engulfed the Swan River. Beautiful, beautiful. I wish I lived close enough to the city for an early morning drive to watch the sunrise.

I was in a bit of a rush when I got up on Sunday, so a coffee was in order after the shoots at Kings Park. We later covered some other parks around the city, then finally ended up in South Beach. It was a wrap!

I'd arranged to meet Nick and Cajun at South Beach, where we let Cajun have a run around, then got home for the left over pizzas I brought over. We were supposed to meet Miles and Terese to head to the Fremantle Yacht Club, so we only had time to return home, drop Cajun, and pick up the cold pizza. It was good to chill out on Matt and Gillian's boat for the rest of the afternoon, and Miles got us army jumpers which fit so snugly! Ooh! They were made of wool in my size, and I actually wore it to work the next day.

I stayed on at Nick's for dinner. I wasn't too fussed with the dogs going hungry. They could wait. I also dropped by at Corey's to return him his DVDs, then got home for an early night's rest.

NOT!

As I was packing my bag at 2300, I realised that I hadn't got a witness to sign my contract! I was in a bit of a panic. I'd actually left it to the end of the week because I wanted to have a good (re-)read before signing it. Looks like I over looked it with all those busy days. Anyway, I sent a messge to Joyce to ask if I could pop over in the morning to have her sign it. I thought since she turns off her phone at night, she'd read it in the morning. To my surprise, she replied quite shortly. I decided to drive over, so by the time I got into bed, it was 0030. So much for having a good night's rest.

Despite just 5 hours of sleep, my first day turned out pretty well. It was great to meet my trainee mates, and to find out that a lot of us were just ecstatic about getting a paid media job in Perth. A lot of us have been working on customer service, casual jobs before we finally landed this real job. We have a very relaxed atmosphere, and I even had my own labelled mug waiting for me when I got there! We spent most of yesterday just going through policies and procedures, and getting to know a little bit about one another. We've moved on to audio visual fundamentals today, and guess what? I can now tear gaffer tape with my bare hands. Haha! Yeah, it's all about being an audio visual professional, so we started from the basics today: learning about cables and connectors, rolling and gaffing cables, etc. We've just been crammed with information, but it feels good being able to take all of it in. I've finally realised the importance of my Diploma in Mechatronics when we had to make calculations involving electrical energy today, and even my experience in ropes has helped in my cable coiling in the afternoon.

Speaking of which, I've got readings to prepare for tomorrow.
