It's been a little over a month since we moved into our new place, and I can't begin to tell you how busy it's been. At work, at home, on weekends, on weeknights, there's always something going on! That said, I'm really looking forward to our weekend away in Yackandandah for the gay and lesbian Spring Migration festival. I've just got half a day at work tomorrow, then we're off!

It's been great settling into our new place, and I guess it's what makes me really appreciate what I've got in my life at the moment. Well, I might be low on funds because of rent, groceries, dog food, concert tickets, movie tickets, etc, but life is great! There was a pile of junk on our front verandah, but we've cleared that out each weekend that we could load our wheelie bin, and it's nice and cleaned up now. I've also started a little compost heap in the backyard, so hopefully I'll get a worm farm going by the end of the year.

Where can I start? I'm getting myself into the routine of cooking again, and it's nice to have a kitchen back, and really, you've got to have your own kitchen a certain way, and no doubt we're still in need of shelving and an extended kitchen bench, but we're quite happy with our metal shelving that's become our pantry, and a trestle table for some bench space. After moving in and spending a few hundred dollars on groceries for our new kitchen, cleaning products, etc, we've decided to put off buying new furniture, especially shelving for our study. Besides, IKEA will only be releasing their new catalogue in September.

We've missed our own furniture from our previous home, and it's fantastic to have them back again. You have no idea how great it is for Nick and I to sit TOGETHER on a couch again, because we didn't have such furniture at Kim and Linda's. It's also great to have a dining table again, something we were sorely missing that just a month or so ago. The best conversations happen at the dining table!

Up until a few weeks ago when I decided to curb my spending, we found time to walk to cafes in the area for a lazy weekend brunch, and we've decided to give each one a go until we find our local. ;-) Hmm... come to think of it, lazy isn't quite the way to describe our weekends. My idea of sleeping in these days is waking up at 0830! There's such a whole lot to do that I can't stay in bed for long! Alright, maybe sometimes we sleep in a little longer... say, 0900. That's it! There're friends to catch up with, Cajun to take to the park, laundry to do, places to visit!

'Great' again being the operative word, I've just absolutely loved living in Brunswick since we moved in. I've joined the local library, I feel great walking to the train station each morning for work (as Nick said, not too close so we can hear the trains from home, but close enough for a short walk), and I can't wait to get home to see Nick and Cajun in the evenings. We've got a supermarket that's really close to Nick's workshop, that of which is just a short block and a half away. I just love the whole hippie community I feel in Brunswick as well! I can't describe it, but I just feel it!

Have I mentioned we've got great neighbours as well? We've met neighbours on either side of us, had chats in the front verandah, and we haven't annoyed each other with loud music whatsoever! I guess it's great how our homes are built, and even though it's a dual unit, we can't hear much through the double brick wall. All nice and peachy!

Work's been going great for me as well. It's been quite challenging, and as we enter a rather busy period of the year, I've learned heaps to get me going. I performed quite well in sales last month, and I must say I've become more assertive where I have to be, even away from work, which is great, and it helps me to think on my feet to work around any situation. As before, I absolutely lvoe my workmates, and as I've said to friends, it's probably one of the few times where I don't have to work with stupid people.

It's almost midnight, and I ought to head to bed soon. I still have so much more to write about, but this will do for now. This will be my one and only post in August 2007. That's how busy it's been! See you in September!
